Zensors comments:
By:larm, as you may or may not know is the annual festival/showcase for up-and coming
bands in Norway. During three hectic days of live performances from over 100 bands on over 14 stages, By:larm is an unique opportunity for fresh bands to showcase and the music business to scout around for the next Big Thing. Needless to say, there is much battle for attention and continuous hype involved.
By:larm has become quite well known and respected over the years and has helped develop a healthy and fresh musical climate in Norway. Several, established/big musical acts today have, through By:larm seen their career kick-start and move into 2nd gear, and during the festival one waits eagerly to see who will get to be the next.
It should be pointed out that the technical arrangements at Renseriet did not run quite as smoothly as preferred, and should be dealt with better next time. This had mainly to do with many bands sound checking under a tight schedule, but also some of the venues crew seemed to know little about professional handling of bands...
Otherwise, Renseriet proved to be a nice venue with especially good backstage facilities and the constant looming and booming of other bands playing hard at the other stage on the second floor.
At By:larm we also took the opportunity to premiere our new professor/scientist stage outfits. The gig itself went very, very well. We all felt afterwards that this was our best performance yet and everything just seemed to click in the right pattern. The front row went pretty much berserk and the stage-techs even had to tighten up the fences in front of the stage in order to prevent the audience from falling through. We felt that the sound was really ace and it is such a pleasure, playing in front of such an
enthusiastic audience, feeding on the energy.
After our 30 minutes on stage, we saw Black Comedy blast most convincingly through a set that proved once and for all that intelligent and very potent metal is alive and well in Norway.
