Zensor's comments:
The MIRR05 pre-premiere: Not so much a gig as a practical joke. The venue was a youth concert- & rehearsal space located outside Reykjavik, in an industrial area by the sea, seemingly unpopulated and well hidden in the fog and rain. The helpful people present had not received the rider, and saw no reason to acquire the missing parts, or otherwise compensate for the embarrasing facilities – and we saw little reason to pester them to think otherwise, seeing as time was scarce and the audience failed to show. Based on the limitations posed by the gear available, and the utter lack of listeners, the MIRR-bands quickly agreed to treat this as a pre-tour practice, and went through their sets to prepare for the next night in Akureyri. It sounded crap, and except for light-technician Martin laughing his ars off (There was nothing else left for him to do) , the effort had little positive repercussions besides the booze backstage. For all three bands, this was rock bottom career-wise, and we have no intention of revisiting.
This was the first gig with a laptop on stage, due to our last minute airplane tickets. A soft-synth patch replaced the Korg Delta, while Patrick's Kurzweil was replaced by a Virus B tabletop that could fit underneath the seat in front. The ESI decided to kill off our main live sample bank just prior to our leaving Oslo, but behaved nicely throughout the gig. Glenn was put in front of a Marshall JCM 900, which wouldn't normally fit that well, but this night that really didn't matter. Mads saw no need to get his gear out of the bag, and Steinar regretted putting on new strings for the night.
Thanks to the few lost souls who showed up to listen, and to Brain Police for their excellent backline service. More details on the stay in Iceland is to be found elsewhere, soon.
